I’ve already said that you can’t come to Berlin without eating a currywurst. I’d like to add that you can’t leave Berlin without eating a kebab.
There are distinct advantages to being involved with a Berlin native, one of them being that they know all the best joints to get food in town. After taking me to the renowned Curry 36 one cold evening in Berlin, Liebling brought me to Balli, his favourite doner kebab place in the city.
The line-up for kebabs were long…
Good food makes my heart happy. What about you? If you find yourself in Berlin, do give Balli a try.
Have you ever eaten a kebab?
Psst! Don’t forget to “like” me on Facebook if you haven’t already! Your support is much appreciated!

I love (vegetarian) kebabs and definitely had more than my fair share in France. It's the perfect nighttime food — and I just love that special sauce! Yum!
Love the orange colours popping out of the photos! Haha that kebab really is big! How funny that the must eats of Berlin include currywurst and kebabs – what a hodgepodge.
Hm..lecker! That looks like the perfect Döner size to me. But where is the Tzatziki?
) I miss all the different foods and that you can get them 24/7.
I tried my first here in Copenhagen and it really wasn't impressed. For a city renowned for its cuisine, the kebabs are far from spectacular and cost more like 7 euro. Then I went to Berlin in August and had one there. Like you I'm not big on them, but the quality is top. I also liked the haloumi. I just booked a ticket back there for the Film Festival this month and you can believe I'll be hitting this Balli joint up. Also looking forward to checking out the desserts at department store you mentioned, KaDeWe. Can't wait!
You just gave me a serious flashback! My husband played basketball in Trier and we LOVED going for doner kebabs. Need to find something comparable here in NYC. There HAS to be one right???
That kebab looks nomtastic….*drools and puts that stand on places to visit when I'm in Berlin*
I went to Germany before I went to Turkey and I was surprised by the large Turkish population there. It's my understanding that they have opened many of the kebab eateries there. I didn't have the kebabs though because I was a vegetarian at the time of my visit. Next time.
I was going to ask if they had veggie kebabs, but I saw someone elses comment about loving them. I'll have to try one sometime!!!
Love kebabs! So filling, so greasy (at times), so hearty.
COMPLETELY OF: I'm based in Paris and I've been seriously looking for a barbershop here. I've been to one place – NOT a good experience and also a bad cut with the added bonus of a severely irritated scalp. So… do you know any places a gal can go? I'd appreciate it SO much! Thanks.
Btw — long time lurker!
Yes! The sauce blanche is the bomb dot com…
I actually have video of me struggling to eat it that I must post! Yes, the foods in Berlin really contrast- it's super cosmopolitan so the grub highlights that..
It was there! But buried in the kebab. There was actually a bit too much, I had to wipe some of it out with a napkin!
Can't believe that kebabs are so expensive in cph. I am also a fan of haloumi, especially grilled! Let me know how you make out when you go to Kadewe and Balli!
There MUST! NYC has everything.
LOL @ nomtastic… Definitely let me know if you make it there!
They have vegetarian kebabs there as well, I believe. The large Turkish population shocked me too!
I believe they do! And Veggie currywurst is also easily available in Berlin.
You know what? I have absolutely no idea! But will try to find out for you. I do have a recommendation for London so if you end up coming here for a weekend, it might be worth your while to get your hair done at the same time!
Yum! Those look amazing. I love kebabs!
OK, thanks for the help! I'll be heading back to London during break. But that's about 2.5 months from now.
What is the name of the shop there? For furture reference.
I have never really kebabed, but I have felafeled. And man do I enjoy felafel.
Yes of course, in Turkey (which I bring up a lot, huh?). Since this place uses the word doner, it is most likely turkish owned
It's called Hype Coiffure!
I'm not the biggest kebab fan but these were admittedly quite tasty!
I'm the opposite of you- I've never felafeled!! But Liebling does all the time and it makes his breath stink- no bueno. LOL
I don't doubt it. Berlin has a huge Turkish population!
You're making me hungry! There's a good kebab place run by a Turkish family here in Santiago, but I haven't been in far too long.
I’m not a great kebab fan. I am mainly put off by their joints- small, oily, smells are strange, etc. I have eaten them abroad because I was super hungry and I had to eat something quick but they are not a gastronomic delight.

I find that they taste the best when you re hungry! lol
Hey Oneika, really liked the post, and great shots of the food! I’ll need to check Balli out! I’ve been doing some similar reviews of kebabs in Berlin on my blog http://dr-doner-guide-berlin.co.uk/ if you wanna have a look! Cheers, D.
