I’ve been feeling uninspired lately. I tend to think that it has to do with my return to work, 6 a.m. wake up calls, and pizza withdrawal.
Work has been kicking my butt, y’all. I didn’t really think I was jet-lagged until this weekend, when even the thought of the physical exertion needed to take my clothes to the laundromat 50 metres from my apartment gave me the heebee-jeebies.
Last week had me get off to a rough start (on the first day of school, I managed to write on the whiteboard in permanent marker… then proceeded to lose my cell phone on the same day, as I left it in the back of a taxi).
What’s more, a full teaching load this year and new technology to master at work is making me feel sad, as are waking up to grey Hong Kong skies that threaten (and deliver) torrential rainpour. Strong, wind-proof umbrella required.
On a positive note, I have found an apartment (many thanks to a friend of mine here who recently vacated her apartment and forwarded her landlord’s info, resulting in my new crash pad). I’ve finally gotten the internet in my apartment back, so I’m writing this post from my bed (please note that it is 6 p.m. on a Tuesday- I’m dog tired). I’ve also signed up for a 10K run here in Hong Kong (taking place in November). I’ve caught up with good friends and briefly graced the Hong Kong night scene with my presence and torn up the dancefloor this past weekend.
So life is kinda ok at the moment, though I’d must prefer to be gallavanting around Europe as I did for the last two months!

Oh, I would rather be gallavanting anywhere than working also. Good to hear you are finally settled and in a good apartment. Right now, the skies are grey on this end also so don't feel too bad.
I gotta say that your lack of motivation reminds me of returning home from Germany….talk about dread. I was dragging my butt around for weeks and week. At least you have the 10k to look forward to.
Thanks for the kind words, Rhona. Day by day I am feeling more positive, but as you say, it is difficult to get back into the grind when you've been on vacay!
