3 weeks ’til Bali.
5 weeks ’til Singapore.
6 (or 7?) weeks ’til Malaysia.
and…
11 weeks ’til I blow this popstand and make my way back to the Americas for “the next episode”.
Can you tell that I have been counting down? I’m majorly excited for the near future, but part of it stems from the fact that I haven’t really travelled anywhere in what feels like ages. “Ages” meaning Christmas (when I went to Berlin and Istanbul), of course.
When you’re a teacher in an international school, three months without going away can seem like a long time. I was supposed to go away to Malaysia during Chinese New Year this past February, but I was sick and had to cancel.
And so, I’ve been counting down until Easter break, when Liebling flies back out here and meets me in Bali. We’re going for 12 days, then flying back to HK for 4 days, then jetting off again to spend a long weekend in Singapore with a group of friends.
And Malaysia? I ended up getting a flight credit for the ticket I cancelled, so I’m hoping to go for a weekend to Kuala Lumpur.
The school year is winding down, and my time in Asia is coming to a close along with it. In just under 3 months I’ll pack my life up into two suitcases and fly back to the Western Hemisphere, the closing of one chapter of life and the beginning of another.

I know what you mean.
I haven't been somewhere that isn't home (melbourne or the USA) in a long time. I am getting itchy. But I don't think that will change any time soon.
All of your travel is so inspiring. I've got to figure out how I can live abroad again – and have some money to spare.
How exciting for you….the upcoming trips and your future plans. It is so nice to see you doing so much. You are one of those people who say and do which is truly inspirational. Can't wait to go on with you to the next episode.
@Nathanz- Girl, sometimes the best vacations take place in the comfort of your own home so don't sweat it!
And retail therapy is always awesome… :=)
@Deidre- It's crazy how even when are living abroad/away from home one still gets the urge to discover other, faraway lands. In the meantime, though, perhaps you can travel in Australia? So many kickass things to see and do.
@Faith- Thank you so much for your kind words, Faith! Do you like working with kids? If so, I have may just have a job idea for you…
@Rhona- Thank you, lady! Will you be around Toronto this summer? You have been along for the ride from the beginning of this HOng Kong adventure and so supportive and I would love to meet up with you in person!
Miss Lady,
Where are you heading to in the Western Hemisphere? I'm leaving Asia next month. I'm heading to Italy in June but from there, don't know just yet. I may return to Asia, but Southeast Asia.

Enjoy every minute of it!!
@Kristina- Oh, goody!! I'm glad that you liked Bali so much- it really makes me excited to go there! Did you blog about the experience? Will check on your blog later to see!
And yes, having so much time off is awesome…
First, where did you get that hat? I'm looking for a big floppy hat to sport when we go to JA.
Second, when in the summer are you going to be in TO? We can meet up there too.
Third, Bali. I would love to go. Maybe for my next big birthday…
I am living vicariously thru your extensive travels!
@Tanya- Would you believe that I got this hat in Beijing from a street vendor for less than $1 USD?! LOL! I'm going to be in the T-dot for the month of August! When will you be there? I'm off to Bali in a week and I can't wait!
@Opal- Funny you say that, because your posts are making me long for France!!
