Malaysia out, South Korea in!

September 13, 2010

It’s official: Liebling is coming to visit and he and I are going to South Korea in October! I was initially thinking/hoping for Malaysia, but he’s already been (and wasn’t particularly keen on going back), and we figured it would be cool to go somewhere that neither one of us had been to. Bali, Indonesia was a front-runner for a while, but tickets were really, really expensive (our flight to Korea and 4 nights in a hotel cost about the same as the plane ticket to Indo) so we opted for a destination that was more cost effective. We thought about a beach vacay in the Philippines (even though we’ve both been) but it’s rainy season, and after thinking about it, I didn’t really feel hanging around on a beach for the better part of a week anyway.

So we are off to Seoul, South Korea for 5 days in mid-October! I’m looking forward to seeing what the city has to offer, and also looking forward to the crisp autumn weather that Seoul has at that time of year (apparently the leaves change colour and is spectacular, just like back home in Canada). Apparently, between the national parks and great hiking, kimchi, other Korean cuisine, and karaoke, amusement parks, entertainment centres, and great shopping, Liebling and I will have plenty of things to keep us occupied and all of our senses will be stimulated in a variety of ways.

its pretty disappointed when people feel reluctant to travel to Malaysia, my home town. I hope Malaysian government do something to preserve what's truly Malaysian, without trying too hard..basic things like cleanliness and customer service do give a long lasting impression on people. As a local, I do feel that our city (Kuala Lumpur) lack of vibrant and the 'Malaysian' ambience compared to other cities. I hope people will come to Malaysia, and experience themselves the true beauty of Malaysia. Come visit the east coast and Sabah n Sarawak. Lots to see and experience. Anyway I like ur blog and really inspire me to travel alone to countries I've been yearning to set foot to.
