Liebling took me out for dinner a few nights ago in Notting Hill, a neighbourhood located in West London. Now, for those of you who, like me, think of the Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts film of the same name, Notting Hill (the neighbourhood, not the movie) is a very affluent and beautiful area, known for its attractive Victorian houses in lollipop colours and kitschy restaurants.
A quick look at some of the advertisements in the windows of rental areas confirmed the ritzy-ness of the area. I know that real estate London is expensive, but a three bedroom flat in attic of a Victorian house for 775,000 GBP is a little ridiculous. Still, it is undeniable that the houses were gorgeous.
I was also delighted to see a reggae record shop painted in vibrant orange as we roamed the streets.
And, while I normally am not this immature, I had to laugh and take a photo when I saw this storefront:
Liebling and I got lost in the streets as we took in our surroundings, then had pizza at an authentic Italian restaurant where the server’s thick Italian accent made me giggle. Certainly not a bad way to spend an evening!
